<tc>Who our postnatal fitness classes are for</tc>
Our specialized group classes are designed for new moms starting 6 weeks after delivery (10 weeks after a cesarean, with medical clearance). Whether you're in the midst of recovery, living with diastasis or pelvic floor weakness, or ready to get back to your pre-pregnancy level, several safe and progressive options are available. Your youngest children are welcome in most of our mom-and-baby classes.
<tc>Proven benefits of postnatal training.</tc>
The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada and the World Health Organization recommend that new moms gradually resume physical activity after giving birth. Postnatal training supports pelvic floor recovery, reduction of rectus diastasis (abdominal separation), improved posture after pregnancy, prevention of postpartum depression, and a return to optimal energy levels so you can fully enjoy life with your baby.

Immediate postpartum (0 to 6 weeks).

This is the phase of rest and recovery. No intense training is recommended: we focus on diaphragmatic breathing, reconnecting with the pelvic floor, and gentle mobilization. Our postnatal workshops and talks are perfect for getting your journey off to a good start while you wait for your medical green light.

Gradual return (6 weeks to 3 months).

Once you've received your medical clearance, ease back into training gently. We work on muscle reactivation, core stability, and posture, and we restore the connection with the pelvic floor. Our coaches, certified in postnatal exercise, adapt every movement to your reality as a new mom (breastfeeding, fatigue, diastasis).

Getting back in shape (3 months and up).

You're ready to push yourself again. We gradually increase the intensity with adapted cardio, full-body strengthening, modified HIIT, yoga, Pilates, or Zumba. All of this with baby by your side, in a motivating group atmosphere, to combine fitness, fun, and the parent-child bond.

FAQ

Returning to postnatal training is generally recommended starting at 6 weeks after a vaginal birth and from 10 weeks after a cesarean, provided you've received the green light from your healthcare professional at your postpartum follow-up. At Studio Moov, certain classes and workshops focused on breathing, reconnecting with the pelvic floor, and gentle mobility are accessible earlier. Our trainers, certified in postnatal exercise, will help you choose the class best suited to your stage of recovery.
The postnatal period is different for everyone. Returning to exercise depends on several factors, including the type of delivery, energy levels, and overall fitness. We invite you to refer to the article here for guidance.
Don't hesitate to reach out to us—we're happy to help you find the best class for your needs.
Although it isn't mandatory, we strongly recommend that all new moms obtain clearance from their doctor, midwife, or healthcare professional at their postpartum follow-up appointment (usually between 6 and 10 weeks after delivery) before starting a postnatal class at Studio Moov. This precaution ensures that your healing is complete and that returning to physical activity is done safely, whether you had a vaginal birth or a cesarean.

Absolutely! Our mom-and-baby classes are perfectly suited to breastfeeding moms. You can feed your baby before, during, or after class according to their needs, with no judgment whatsoever. The studio is equipped with nursing pillows, extra chairs, a private corner, and all the comfort you need to make your experience enjoyable. Our trainers adjust the intensity of the exercises to preserve your energy and your milk supply. Just remember to stay well hydrated during the session and to wear a sports bra that offers good support.
Our postnatal classes take place at our main studio located in Boisbriand, in the heart of Montreal's North Shore. We welcome new moms from Blainville, Sainte-Thérèse, Rosemère, Lorraine, Bois-des-Filion, Mirabel, Saint-Eustache, Deux-Montagnes, and Laval. Some outdoor postnatal classes (stroller workout, Trailfit, babywearing fitness) are also held in parks around the region, depending on the season. All specific addresses are provided to you upon registration.

You. Your baby. Your yoga mat. Your smile! No need to pack up half your house when coming to the Studio. Just wear comfortable workout clothes and athletic shoes, bring the essentials for your baby (milk, diapers), and don’t forget your water bottle.

On-site, we provide plenty of stations (play mats, chairs, swings, activity centers, etc.) and toys to keep little ones entertained. Our facilities include nursing pillows, a microwave, a bottle warmer, small chairs for feeding, changing tables, showers, and even a potty.

And if your baby gets fussy, don’t worry—we’ve got extra arms to lend you a hand!

Absolutely! Children of all ages are welcome in postnatal classes. However, they remain under your responsibility, as there is no daycare service or supervision outside the workout room.
We recommend baby carriers that provide ergonomic support, meaning the baby's knees should be positioned higher than their hips. Of course, the carrier should also be comfortable for the parent.
Our favorite brands include Ergobaby, Lillébaby, Tula, and woven wraps for newborns. If you don’t have a baby carrier, we can lend you one for your first class so you can try it out. Our team will also be happy to guide you in choosing an optimal, long-term baby carrier.
Additionally, our staff is always available to help you adjust and position your baby comfortably before class.
You don’t need a high-end stroller for the stroller fitness class—four wheels and a seat are all you need. However, a stroller that maneuvers easily can make the experience more enjoyable. If you have a double stroller, feel free to bring more than one child to the class!
We recommend dressing your baby or child according to the outdoor temperature.
For stroller fitness classes, be sure to apply sunscreen or use a stroller sun cover for protection.
TrailFit classes take place in the forest, so bringing insect repellent is a good idea. Since your baby will be snug against you (and you’ll be working up a sweat), avoid overdressing them.
If you sign up for TrailFit, you will receive detailed guidance on how to dress your child based on their carrying position (front or back).
For winter classes, you can also check out our blog article for more tips.
If you are enrolled in the postnatal program, you can make up missed classes in the adult classes. However, please note that these sessions are conducted without babies or children.
